Hi, am looking to build a new machine as my current one is on its last legs. I'm trying to keep it as cheap as possible and was wondering if anyone could recommend a reliable, cheap and quiet psu to power a C2D(poss e6600), graphics card (probably an X1900pro), 1 hard drive, 1 optical drive, 2GB ram. I plan to overclock a bit.

Is the Tagan 380W http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-001-TG&groupid=701&catid=123&subcat=393

sufficient to power it or is that a bit optimistic!?

My PC is the same spec as that except for an e6300. I went with the Tagan 430w to be on the safe side. Everything runs fine for me.

Hmm, I had looked at the OCZ stealthXstream 600w but I'd read it's really noisy - anyone had any experience with it?

Also, what thermaltake PSUs do you mean? - OCUK only seem to sell 750w and above.....

the tagan should be fine.

rig as per sig draws a peak of just over 400w from the wall. and thats a lot more power hungry and on the wrong side of the 75% efficiency calculation ;)

Well I've got that exact model and it doesn't have a pci-express connector. You might therefore want to go with something a bit more modern like the akasa or coolermaster units already mentioned.

tbh id go for a thermaltake 650w psu i know a few ppl with them one has a gtx and e6600 oc'd to 3.6 the other has a gts + 6600 oc'd to 3.6 aswell and there stable with all the cables you want
