I am after a new CPU/Mobo whose only use that will stretch it a bit is gaming @ 1080p. It will have a GTX460 (930 MHz core) in it, I also have 4GB DDR3 1600 and a decent cooler.

This is for my daughters rig which is currently running an E5200 dual core @ 3.6GHz on a Gigabyte G31M S2l ... but the overclock on the mobo has regularily reverted itself to stock lately so time for an upgrade!

Budget is £120 ...

YOUR BASKET
1 x AMD Phenom II X4 Quad Core 955 Black Edition "125W Edition" 3.20GHz (Socket AM3) - Retail with FREE Deus Ex PC Game £83.99
1 x Asus M5A78L-M LX AMD 760G (Socket AM3+) DDR3 Motherboard £37.58
Total : £132.07 (includes shipping : £8.75).

£121.57 without shipping, not sure how free shipping/shipping effects you being in Jersey, but this is prob best bet for your budget, you could look at an Intel Pentium G840 with a cheap 1155 board as an Intel alternative but the 955 just pips it as long as youre not AMD adverse

The M5A78L-M LX is a 95W max mobo so putting the 125W phenom in it is risky.

good spot Bambi, wasnt paying attention at time
My bad
In order to stay in budget, swap CPU for 840, though in this instance it may be better to go the Intel route

Ta - upped the budget a bit and went for this:

AMD Phenom II X4 Quad Core 955 Black Edition "125W Edition" 3.20GHz (Socket AM3) - Retail with FREE Deus Ex PC Game (On TWO)
Gigabyte GA-880GM-USB3 AMD 880G (AM3+) DDR3 Motherboard (Because I know it does a decent overclock with the x6!)

And this to round it off:

HIS ATI Radeon HD 6870 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card with DIRT3 & Deus Ex PC Games (On TWO)
