Hi all, forgive the double post but reading more intor what I need etc I want to build my own.

The PC will be used for streaming only. No games but I want a decent enough graphics card to run direct x 10 etc. And to use a 55" TV as my monitor.

£400? what can I build?

It'll be shelf based near a dartboard, so no need for any unicorn puke :) (I do need more for my workstation though) So, we're looking rugged, ideally if colour is an option, black and red.

suggestions suggestions.

I'm not adverse to used but I can never find what I want.

PC only, no peripherals needed.

Just not possible at current prices, even if you went with a 3500X, that's £150 and a very unexciting 1050 Ti is £200. You can get a 1600 AF for around £100, perhaps the best value.

If you can make do with onboard Vega then I'd suggest a 4650G.

Alternatively a 10400F, H410/B460 and GT 1030, but like the 4650G, it is a weak graphics card.

To be honest the budget is flexible.
Rather spend what I need to spend really.
I know what I want it to do - definitely don’t know what I need to do it

perhaps I’m better off building a new work pc and using my current one in the garage. That’s ryzen 5 with a daft graphics card far more than I need for work.

or even take that card out of the work pc anyway and get something smaller

Streaming isn't demanding if you're not gaming at the same time.

If you can be more specific, might be easier to advise. A 6 core Ryzen is pretty beefy and if you don't need that, a 10100 with no graphics card might be sufficient?

Won’t be gaming on it at all to be honest.
I’ve got a rtx 2080 in the workstation and I don’t think the fans ever been needed. I think I’ll take that out, buy a smaller one for the work pc and use the rtx in the garage.

in terms of processing I just want a decent processor that allows a fast boot and will happily cope with streaming. Really won’t do much more than that. I mean yeah if I stick the rtx in there I might play a game in the evening if I can be bothered but mostly it’ll be a streaming machine

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £495.69 (includes shipping: £12.30)

what are your thoughts to this?
It's probably massively overkill so i'd happily take advice.

I will need to add a GPU in there - but the new GPU would be purely for the work PC. I will take out my RTX 2080 from there and put it in this new build. So the GPU I order now only needs to run my 2 x MSI optix G24 and allow me to watch youtube/do spreadhseets etc. So pretty basic.

Maybe you'd be better off upgrading the work PC like you suggested, because it sounds like an Intel IGP would be fine for that.

The work PC doesn't really need upgrading - in fact it could probably be downgraded and I wouldn't notice too much.

I was only really going to take out the GPU of the work PC, stick that in the new build, then buy a lower end GPU for the work PC.

Think i'm going to give option 2 a try.

My current garage pc is:
  • HP Mini PC Elitedesk 800 G1
  • Processor: Intel Quad Core i5 – 4590T 4th Generation @2.00 GHz
  • RAM: 8 GB DDR3 (Upgrade available)
  • Hard Disk: 500 GB HDD (SSD upgrade available)
  • Intel® HD Graphics 4600
  • Operating System: Win 10 Pro installed and activated
  • Palm size compact yet powerful mini PC
  • Built-in Wifi
  • Includes HP adapter and cable
Now it's a pain for the job I want it to do in the garage but I think it'll be a decent enough work PC. So I think i'm going to just do a swap. Move the beasty pc to the garage, bring the mini one in and use that for work. It'll do the job well enough I think. I mean youtube is as hard as it'll have to work. And spreadsheets etc aren't too arduous either.
