i dont think i am getting the most out of my fibre connection, on speed test my pc gets between 35-40mbps using an old wireless dongle

just plugged my girlfriends laptop in via ethernet and got over 100mbps

so i am wondering if a £25ish set of powerline plugs will help me get better results or do i need to spend more?

or should i stick to wireless?

its a new build house and the router is in the room below where my pc is!

Get a 30m network cable and run it along skirting boards/under carpets.

Tried loads of solutions but have always gone back to the network cable and had 0 issues.

(even got a spare Cat5e cable incase it breaks!)

using devolo 500mini plugs, only issue i had was sometimes they would get stuck sleeping and need a power cycle, which has since been fixed with a firmware update. [havent had the issue for the past year since the update] easy as hell to setup and a lot neater looking than a cable trailing the house.

you can also get plugs with wifi access points built in and you can effectively daisy chain all the plugs together for a tidy looking network.

should probably mention on my current plugs there is an option to switch off the lights on the plug [in the firmware] so you don't even know its there.

in the past i had some devolo 200mb plugs that are at my parents house and haven't missed a beat, and i would hear about it straight away if they did! cannot comment on other brands

Why can't you run a cable? Close to any external walls? Much easier going out and back in usually.

just a new house (first one) and dont want to start drilling holes just yet :D but tbh its probably the best way and pc will never move i doubt. yea both rooms are at the back of the house, bottom right to top left

As long as you are careful drilling out (hammer the first course and a bit into second then grind the remainder through so you don't "blast" the brick) you'd be amazed how discrete a single run of black ethernet is...
