So whats the most recommended one from everyone at the moment? Im tempted to turn my current spec into a SFF pc using the:
Thermaltake VF1000BWS Lanbox - Black

But dont know which MicroATX board to get, id love to hit the 2.4ghz im now reporting on my e6300 but I assume I'll get nowhere near that on a MAtx board at the moment? Hopefully the fatal1ty boards will be decent but am I looking at the ASRocks for the moment?

As I said not looking to spend loads to turn one into a SFF setup so at under £100 total do you think the Lanbox with the ASRock 945 mobo would be the way to go at the moment?

The Asrock Conroe945G dvi will do you well, currently it's the best uATX board out there for C2D. Rock sold & 100% Stable. asrock = £50

Abit Fatal1ty F-I90HD

Seems liek the best board out there, supports Quad core I believe and has Radeon X700 built in + HDMI...

IF i went for that I would need to know its a good clocker otherwise there is no point ;) dont care about the x700 tho cos my 8800gts is going in :D

I basically have until the end of march to decide so hopefully Il hear something on the Abit but the ASRock seems the best bet atm!

When you've had one, and clocked it beyond 350MHz FSB then could you give us your opinion?

It doesn't clock any better than the ASUS P5L-1394 I had last year and Abit have been very naughty in my opinion selling an MCE type motherboard with the Fatal1ty logo on and talking about pre-overclocked system bus. What that means is that the FSB defaults to 270 rather than 266. I had mine from a competitor and it went straight back because it was advertised and bought as a 'good clocker' and they quite happily took it back because we had agreed that I wanted a board that did 400FSB+.

I cannot tell you how many times I have seen people post 'I bought this board because it was supposed to be the best overclocker - how can I make it overclock?' because recommendations are made based on photographs, rumours and reviews.

The ASRock 945G-DVI is a proven, well priced board and that's STILL what I would have to recommend having actually used a Fatal1ty F-I90HD.

I cant presume to know a smuch as WJA96, but in my experience there aint anything suitable for an overclocked c2d in mATX form,

If the best overclock you can achieve is 320 why bother ?, I too got fed up buying boards based upon recommendations and "claims" of high fsb, only to find they were either downright lies or sales techniques or both

OCUK this means you :(

IMO your best option is get an e4300 and do the conductive paint mod to force 266 bus [2.4 gig] and hope your matx mobo does't interrogate the cpu too much, I picked up a new 4300 on auction for 85 delivered and its going to be pad modded and stuck in my msi g965 matx mobo, if you get the ASRock you will have even more fsb headroom and should with some luck get the 4300 up to 9x 320 = 2.880 gig
