OK I hate using the controller to type when on the PS3 - has anyone bothered to buy a keyboard for it?

I know you can use any USB/BT keyboard, but Ive got a G15 and I cba to unplug it from my main PC when I want to use it on my PS3.

So Im after a small cheap (so I guess USB) keyboard just for the PS3 - something that suits the PS3 would be ideal (so silver/chrome and black)...

TIA

I use one of these:

About 28 quid. They do a few different models now but that one has smallest footprint (integrated mouse is useful if you ever use web browser or any of the PS3 games that has built in web section). They also have a black PS3 specific model (bluetooth) as well for about 30 quid which also has LEDs (imo battery will run out quicker in that one).

I'm going to buy the official PS one when it comes out so I can stick this one on MM for you if you want it ;)
Can you link me to the official one? I go weak at the knees when I read 'official' :p. Is it that Logitech one with the touchpad?

I dont even understand how you use it. I mean the 360 one is designed so you just swing your thumbs down and its really comfortable to use. This looks really hard to reach and completely tacked on.

I use my old battered Microsoft Digital Media Pro keyboard. Had it in the wardrope left from when I got my G15 so that's my keyboard for the PS3. Does it no justice and really, I should use the G15 on the PS3 but "if" I wish to play a game on the PC, well I just cba to plug the G15 back in :D

Same as - Ive probably got an USB keyboard somewhere but I want to treat my PS3 :p.

Found out that that Logitech keyboard can indeed be had for around £30 so might pick that up eventually - though it would be nice if it worked with my PC (do they just need a BT enabled PC?)...

Hi guys - decided to get that keyboard and about to hit the buy button when I thought I would check if there were any other alternatives? Ideally with a touchpad...

Only downsides I can see is that it doesnt do the L and R buttons (but Ive got the official remote anyway) and that for PC usage it doesnt have the Windows Key (CTRL+Esc ;))

Seems stupid to spend £30 on something else when this does it all and is Logitech (soz Im a fan boy). The silly thing is my PS3 is above my PC so I could just plug in a USB keyboard but Im moving over to Vista MCE to watch TV so a cordless keyboard would be useful anyway...

Bugger, can I find one in stock anywhere at a reasonable price - nope :/

Might as well hold off for the official one since that only seems to be a month away. Butt ugly, but I wont be connecting it to the pad.

What I have found out is that theres not one keyboard out there that does all the PS3 pad functionality and therefore I would need it or the BD remote with me anyway...

Just thought Id let you know that the official PS3 keypad is available to pre-order from an online shop for £17.99 - just put my order in - cant find anywhere else who lists it...

Release date is 28/11 - though with the shop in question the delivery isnt the fastest so it probably be more like the 5/12 before it lands on my doormat :p

It's easy to use, you hold the controller in your left hand and use the finger tips of your other hand, you don't use your thumbs like on the 360 one. Rest it on your leg if you have to, no biggie tbh.

Have you looked into the Logitech Cordless Mediaboard pro (Bluetooth) (PS3)???

Yep I did but dismissed it in the end - great keyboard/trackpad idea with one quite big failing - no L/R buttons...

Means when using it on the net you cant swap between links, go back and forth on the same page or zoom. So you would need the remote/controller next to you anyway - why I decided the keypad would be better as I dont type that much, but it perfect for its job due to its size...

I really wanted the Logitech DiNovo Mini - but at £80 its too much :p. The keypad is damn ugly, but theres no viable alternative unfortunately...
