Currently I have an AMD Athlon 64 3200+, 1GB RAM, and thats pretty much it :p

It's still running but have had to put in an old IDE drive to replace the SATA one which died and its running really slowly with that in now and it's getting on so thinking of replacing.

All I use it for is office work and web browsing so virtually no gaming at all so don't think I need anything amazing and just want to see a nice speed boost and be able to run windows 7 and hopefully have a low power requirement as I stream stuff from it to my xbox downstairs so it is on a lot when I am not near it.

As I wont be upgrading in bis and usually just buy a whole new pc when I need to, this one hasnt been upgraded in 4-5 years at all so not fussed too much about current technology and which socket etc wont be upgradeable in 6 months.

So in essence looking for the following parts:

CPU
MOBO
RAM
PSU
Optical Drive
HDD

Would like onboard graphics as not needing a good card though option to put one in later on to run older versions of command and conquer would be nice or even if onboard graphics can do that.

So what are my options for this? I am not sure what I want to spend and just looking for smooth running windows and office etc without sitting and waiting for it to get on with it! I also need dual monitor support.

So as I am not sure about budget and just want some honest guidance on what I need without going over the top I would say a maximum of £200. Don't need windows as can get that cheap for student versions.

Here this should offer you the performance boost you want. The mobo has HD4200 onboard GPU that should be enough for those older C&C games you wanna play. Also it has 1xPCI-E 2.0 slot so if you need a little more graphics processing power you can add a GPU later on.

This is not english. I refuse to try and work out what you are trying to say.

Also, any reason why you've specced £160 on 4GB of DDR2 ram? Good job, that's nearly all his budget.

Probably get something similar to the first spec I think :p with the added hard drive. Much point considering adding a bit extra and going for AM3 board and DDR3?
