Cheap Tablet Recommendations

Until recently I've been using a Linx EM-I8270 7 inch Tablet (1.83 GHz Intel Atom Z3735G Quad-Core Processor, 1 GB RAM, 32 GB storage) as an xbmc computer.

The battery died and I'm looking for a replacement. I don't really want to spend more than £100, and the only one of these I can find is the 10" one which is £120. It also was really slow to boot so I'd be tempted to find one with a little more "oomph" if such a tablet exists.

Only caveat is it has to have a mini hdmi out.

TIA.

It's over budget but the nvidia shield is quite a nice cheap tablet, you can also buy controller for them, so ideal for plugging into the TV and using as a media player

I've used mine with kodi and showbox in the past when away from home. Also good for playing older games like Doom and half life.

Appreciate the suggestion, I'd forgotten I'd actually posted this :o.

Does the Shield have mini hdmi out? I suppose HDMI out would be ok actually thinking about it.

They look too overspecced to be honest, and definitely overpriced (for what I'm after) but might be a decent bet, at least the battery is less likely to fail after a year.

Mind you the K1 looks like its out of stock everywhere.

It is out of stock. OcUK said Nvidia have halted production. Its probably the best tab for the price, probably the best tab up to £200.
Amazon had some for preorder (arriving the 5th of Dec) they all went quite quickly. Not even sure if they are still being made so I wouldn't be too hopeful of all those people who preordered actually getting one.

I have about £150 to spend, my existing tab is the Nexus 7 2012, no idea what is better, possibly the Nexus 7 2013 but that's 3 years old!

Platypus - sounds like the Chuwi Hi8 ticks all your boxes:

A little better than your outgoing tablet and has the microHDMI output.

I've got a Chuwi Hi10 and love it. It has a better screen than the Hi8, more RAM and more storage but it's over your £100 budget. That said, if you can stretch to the extra, I would! :)

techtablets.com is a great website for honest reviews of a lot of Chinese brand tablets, if you don't already know of it.

My brilliant Samsung Tab S 8.4 is on it's way out. Think it has been just a year that I've had it but I've been getting screen flicker, and random reboots for the past few days. Seems like a common issue and is related to a battery connector within.

If all else fails I was hoping to get the K1 Shield (again) or a Pixel C. Shame the latter is only available in one size.

I'm still thinking about getting the Nexus 7 2013 to replace my 2012 version. With the shield out of stock the nexus 7 seems to be the best build available. I'm done with cheap tablets and phones direct from China.
I got a £150 Lenovo Tab 7 S8-50F a year or so ago for my son (he found the spec) Its got 2 gig of RAM and a decent 1. something processor. Cant find anything in the £150 range to beat it. The Lenovo's at that price range now dont seem to have the same processor speed. But maybe they are using new processors that cosume less power and run at less Hz but are better?

Starting to do my head in now looking at reviews and prices.
