I'm looking for a cheap printer with a low total cost of ownership (TCO).

Initially not too expensive to purchase but the ink is the big issue i'm literally looking for cartridges that you can chuck in for a couple of quid.

Any ideas?

Yes, but as a total cost are much much cheaper (black at least!) You can pick up 2nd hand ex workgroup printers which have amazingly low page counts and amazingly low toner costs. (Mine uses £18 toner carts, and I am currently on target for 3200 prints)
Never really looked into colour laser costs of course!

For inkjets, look into any epson that can take a continuous ink system. No idea which can though.

What sort of throughput are you looking at?

I'm after an inkjet, also due to space issues. As for throughput i don't print a lot it's the the occasional print out, a google map for direction, an email or like the other day - a 30 page TOS. No way i'm reading that on a screen.

look around for a printer that can take a ciss (continuous ink supply system).

recently bought a Epson PX650 for my parents as you can buy a ciss for it.

If you're willing to pay for a new printer every few years - Compatible inks are the way to go.

As for the printer itself - I have no idea.
