Just picked up a Manfrotto MK394-PQ in the clearance at PC World, down to £45 instead of about £70. For £45 it's pretty good - aluminium not plastic, lightweight, proper Manfrotto plate/head (so compatible with more expensive systems), ball head and wide leg planting.

Alright for most peoples needs here. I got it purely as a lighterweight/cheaper alternative to our £350 video tripods.

It's only available in store but I think you can check availability and reserve online.

I had my eyes on a carbon fibre Giottos but for that price as a first tripod, it's hard to turn down. Thanks for the heads up, what set up are you using with it?

Haven't used it yet but it'll be with a 5D MKIII with whatever. Most of the use will be for Google Business View as its easier to get around with and that's with a pano head and an 8mm prime.

Despite the Internet saying there was no stock, there was one left near my work but it was filthy and worn out. I might see if others fair better.
