Cheap upgrade for Skyrim?

This is what I'm running:

E6420 @ 2.13Ghz
IL9 Pro
2 Gb RAM DDR2
Radeon x1950 Pro 256mb

I was hoping to upgrade to a i5-2500k (£500-600 rehaul) after Christmas, but I really want to be able to run Skyrim in November.

What would I need to upgrade to run it and could I use that in my full upgrade in Jan? I really can't afford much at the mo.

Id wait til Janurary, or try and psuh the re-haul forward.

The only other thing i could suggest would be a GPU. Maybe a 6770 or 6850. Though these might be bottleneck by the CPU or whatever PSU you have.

Any one upgrade you put in, will only bottleneck another area, unfortunately. The full upgrade option would be best as others have said

depending on what you have could upgrade the psu for new graphics card, and add a ati 6870, if you have the budget at the moment.

have you tried overclocking the 6420 ?

Not yet, any recomendations on a cooler? (cheap)

if your set to upgrade to the sandybridge in the new year, and if your case will handle it, go for the Gelid Tranquillo or the corsair a50.
