Hey,

I was thinking about doing a cheap upgrade to am2 (maybe a 5000 Black edition and clocking it up to 3Ghz .. seems simple enough as it just a case off upping the multi)

Is it worth going from my current 3800x2 2.5Ghz 939 asrock dual sata setup?

Is it a better option than say a 2140/2160 c2d ... also what is a good am2 mobo to go for? Dont want to spend too much, but I want 3Ghz out of the black edition.

Andy

The C2D would be faster than the AM2 if both clocked to 3GHz.

A good cheap C2D upgrade would be GA-P31-DS3L mobo, 2GB OCZ PC6400 XTC RAM, E2160/80 cpu, coolermaster Hyper TX2 - £150 delivered;)

Yeah that sounds good bro, I should hopefully get 3Ghz from that setup. I might have to invest in a new psu too or do u think my coolermaster 450w still has some life left in it?

ATM I using the same mobo/ram as I've suggested with a E4400 @3Ghz, 7600GT and a 425w Enermax 1.3 PSU - so should be OK even with more power hungry gfx. eg 8800GT

Yeah im using a 3870xt and I want to get more out of it with a better cpu :p

Thanks for your replies dude!
