Hi guys I need to build new base for my daughter, I have everything apart from

CPU
Motherboard
Memory

Now I was thinking about getting maybe a upgrade for one of my own pc? I can't strech to get another i5 plus everything but need something that will run better then

Intel Q8300 2.5 with 4gb ddr2, now brace your self got to be under £200, what can you recomend?

Always had intel but don't mind going to AMD
 
Keep what you have?

Add a cooler and SSD so you can overclock the chip and get the faster response a SSD gives.


But going back to the PC for the daughter,

• What PSU and case do you have?
• What GFX card?
• Are all your drives SATA or IDE?
• What is the PC used for?
 
Well she is 6 years old so some cbeebies and youtube and staff like that so no need even for graphics card if is build in on motherboard, I have 500w psu and atx case, the spare drives are ide
 
Bit of everything, gaming, photo editing, what I can do is
Give my q8300/4gb ram and ide devices which would leave me with

Geforce gts450 graphics

sata dvd rewriter

Thats pretty much the defacto standard spec around here.

You cant overclock the i3 (apart from maybe a little BCLK increase from 100Mhz) but the Z77 board will allow you to if you put a "K" CPU etc.
 
If you can stretch that far then yes, a very nice board.

But instead of maybe looking to SLI your GTS450, sell it on and getting a single faster GFX card will be a better option.
 
How about getting something 2nd hand for my daughter it only needs to run for few months then I can get this for my self, is £70 more but that would give me good pc for another few years

Sure.

Also with the stock cooler you can oc the CPU to around 4Ghz, or add a £25-30 cooler and you can do 4.5Gh±
