Cheap upgrade required.

My sons after upgrading his PC.

It currently has a 1Gb 5770 installed, and I think its coming to the end of its useful life.

He plays WoW, and some web based games, the rest of his machine specs are as follows....

AMD Pheno II X6 Black

8Gb 12800 RAM

650w PSU

22" Monitor

He has £70ish saved up, so is he going to be able to get a new GPU which will play his games at reasonable quality for this amount?

I wouldn't personally recommend buying a new graphics card with a budget that small - is he willing to buy second hand?

If new is a must, then an extra ~ £50 would be getting into 270X territory which is a decent card for medium settings at 1080p.

A 750ti will foot that bill perfectly. I used one to play wow for ages, only had to turn a few settings down in raids and battlegrounds but if he doesnt need ultra all the time that's not even a concern.

He plays on with the settings on FAIR at the minute, I doubt he will complain about having to turn the settings down for raiding or whatever.

No worries. The 750ti will be such a huge jump in performance he should love you for it.

In synthetic benchmarks the 750ti is at least double the performance of the 5770 and quite often approaching triple.
