Hi guys,

I had a PC built a few years back, and its starting to get a bit long in the tooth. I play the odd game on it, like Sleeping Dogs, Dawn of War 2 and Alan Wake. I dont want to spend a massive amount on upgrading the system (around £200 - £250) but I do want to be able to play a few upcoming titles like Titanfall and The Witcher 3 etc at 1080p. My current system is:

M3N78 Pro mobo
Athlon 64X2 6000+
Radeon 4850
4GB DDR PC2-6400 RAM

I know my mobo is pretty limiting, but I was hoping to get hold of a Phenom II 955 and a radeon 6850, along with an upgrade to 8gb RAM (my mobo can only take DDR2 however). Would this upgrade be worth it from my current setup? I will probably be getting a PS4 at some point so the PC wont be my main gaming system for years to come, just want something that plays current and a few future games at 1080p. Cheers!

I'll give you an alternative:

YOUR BASKET
1 x AMD Kaveri 7850K 12 Compute Core APU w/ Radeon R7 Graphics (4 CPU + 8 GPU Compute Cores) - Retail £139.99
1 x TeamGroup Vulcan ORANGE 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-19200C11 2400MHz Dual Channel Kit (TLAD38G2400HC11CDC01) £55.99
1 x Gigabyte F2A88XM-DS2 AMD A88X (Socket FM2+) DDR3 Micro ATX Motherboard £45.95
Total : £251.53 (includes shipping : £8.00).

APU's now have very good graphics built into the processors and would give you some great results playing modern titles at medium settings. Paired with fast RAM, you'll get some good results.

The alternative is to get a graphics card:

YOUR BASKET
1 x MSI Radeon R9 270 Gaming Edition OC 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £137.99
Total : £147.59 (includes shipping : £8.00).

An SSD would be a good addition too:

YOUR BASKET
1 x MSI Radeon R9 270 Gaming Edition OC 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £137.99
1 x Samsung 120GB SSD 840 EVO SATA 6Gb/s Basic - (MZ-7TE120BW) £79.99
Total : £227.58 (includes shipping : £8.00).
