Hi all

I'm looking at upgrading my system, but really need to keep it as cheap as possible. Need mobo, cpu, ram, and gfx. I need it to be as strong as it can for the admittedly limited budget. It might look a lot like countless other systems that have been spec'd in here previously, but I just wanna be 100% sure i'm getting as much as I can for the money. This is what I came up with...

YOUR BASKET
1 x XFX Radeon R9 280 DD Edition 3072MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card (R9-280A-TDFD) £149.99
1 x AMD Piledriver FX-8 Eight Core 8320 Black Edition 3.50GHz (Socket AM3+) Processor - Retail £99.95
1 x Asus M5A97 EVO R2.0 AMD 970 (Socket AM3+) DDR3 Motherboard £74.99
1 x TeamGroup Vulcan GOLD 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (TLYD38G1600HC9DC01) £61.99
Total : £396.52 (includes shipping : £8.00).

Can't stress enough that I cannot stretch over the £400 mark. Anybody have any thoughts?

Thanks :)

suggestions

Hey RJC, cheers for the quick reply

Looks like a great suggestion on the mobo, not sure how I had dismissed that one :)

re: the GPU, I presume you're suggesting that for the increased clock speed, and the performance bump that would provide? (which is exactly what I was asking for in my original post, I know...). What's your thoughts on the brand? I was leaning toward the XFX for what I perceived being better brand quality than VTX3D, is this the case? I understand ocuk have a pretty sweet RMA deal with XFX also?

Thanks again

No probs :)

I have not herd any complaints regards VTX3D and as you seen its slightly faster on some of the clocks. The XFX does have a much improved RMA service, my old XFX 4870X2 lasted 4 months before it failed and I had to wait for a refund.

But either you will be fine :)
