Cheap way to fish on sea

Sea fishing can get pretty costly, especially when fishing in amongst rocks. If you only want to fish close in just a a nice beach fishing rod. The best advice I could give is find a local fishing shop and talk to the staff about locations and your budget.

Fishing off Brighton marina was great fun. I'd probably just get a casting rod, some local knowledge from the tackle/bait shop and away you go. Where are you based?

inflateables and fish hooks do not go together

many of the sit upon rigid sea kayaks are set up for fishing now though with rod holders etc

Dont recommend inflatable kayaks for fishing. I use to work in a shop which sells kayaking stuff a few years ago. Mainly it sold inflatable kayaks. Cheap inflatable ones don't have a thick enough skin to resist hooks going straight through them. More expensive high quality kayaks which are inflatable can be had which cater towards people who want to go on white water. These things are solid and can withstand you throwing a sharp knife at it due to the numerous layers of different protective materials making it pretty much pierce proof. Unfortunately, these are almost always as expensive or more expensive than much more reliable solid kayaks. Most inflatable ones also suffer from sitting on the water, rather than in it. Not a big deal as a kayaker, but as a fisherman, it is an inconveniently bumpy and sketchy ride if they waves are a little choppy.

If you want to fish on the sea because you like being on the sea when you fish, dont go budget inflatable kayak. If you just want to fish 100-200yds out, grab yourself a sturdy beach rod and a heavy beach multiplier, spool it with braid and with some practice, long distance casting shouldn't be a problem.
