Cheaper 8800GTS with less memory?

I still think the people who bought the X1800XT/X1900XT 512mbs when they were 'hot' are in the best position because even today games are still not pushing them to their limits and I can still play virtually every game with 4xAA/16xAF on my X1900XT.

For sure, but they stopped production of the x1900XT cards - when OCuk still stocked them, even when they were in the clearence bin, we were pointing them out.

And they had 512MB as well. Nice cards...

By the time I need to play at 1024x768 with no AA for a smooth framerate (which means upgrade time for me) I'll have the R600, G80 Refresh and a crap load of mid/budget range cards to choose from, just in time for the wave of new DX10 titles.

My 6800GT got to that stage quicker than your x1900XT will, hence my sig. :)

when will these be realeased i really don't want to waste my money buying a card this month and next month it turning our to be half the price orbeing able to get an 8800 for the price i payed

all the other distinctive features of the product, such as 320-bit memory bus, 500MHz clock-speed, 96 stream processors at 1200MHz , 24 texture mapping units and 20 raster operation units will remain in the place

Crikey, that's a shock, but great news for anyone looking to upgrade around the time it comes out. GTS performance for £200 is an absolute steal and the lack of memory wouldn't really bother me greatly. Certainly for people running at 1600x1200 or less this card should utterly destroy the opposition in that price bracket and if I hadn't of got a 7900GTO a few months back I'd be holding out for this.

I'm still pretty shocked that they haven't crippled the card in the way that the 6800 was in relatation to the 6800GT.

Just seen these on pre-order elsewhere for £201.90. It was an Asus one. As usual we are getting ripped off again in this country. As you can get a 640mb one for £245 is there any point?

That depends on how much of a performance hit the 320MB is, if the difference is only in high resolutions it might be worthwhile.

exactly what i was thinking, if it was £201 and then vat ontop id get the 640, but at 1280x1024 or 1368x768(720p HD tv???) then a 320 would be sufficient, and the saved £50 could be better invested elsewhere.

I will be usig it at 1280x1024 or maybe 1600x1200 so as long as its around the 200 quid mark it will be fine for me and not really warrant the extra £50-£70...

same here, except 720p not 1600x1200, rather spend the extra £50 on something else! like a new mouse, or more storage!
