Hi Guys,

I want a new office PC to run a 4k monitor at 60Hz. Reckon we can do it for £500ish, obviously excluding the monitor?

It will need to run Windows 8.1, Office 2013 and Photoshop. I have the software already.

Core i7 Haswell
Suitable graphics card
8Gb
256Gb SSD

Don't need keyboard, mouse or an optical drive.

Unless I'm wrong (which is rare) a board with the correct displayport connector should run 4K@60Hz and use the CPU's internal gfx.

YOUR BASKET
1 x Intel Core i7-4790K 4.00GHz (Devil's Canyon) Socket LGA1150 Processor - Retail £259.99
1 x Gigabyte G1.Sniper Z97 Intel Z97 (Socket 1150) DDR3 ATX Motherboard £118.99
1 x TeamGroup Xtreem LV 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-21300C11 2666MHz Dual Channel Kit (TXD38G2666HC11CDC01) £65.99
1 x SuperFlower Golden Green HX 550W "80 Plus Gold" Power Supply - Black £53.99
1 x Raijintek Agos Midi Tower - Black £39.95
Total : £548.51 (includes shipping : £8.00).

http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4952#sp

1 x DisplayPort, supporting a maximum resolution of 4096x2160@24Hz or 3840x2160@60Hz
* Support for DisplayPort 1.2 version.

Just add drives I assume.

There's probably a cheaper board somewhere with the right DP port, but I cant find it.

There are cheaper non K i7s - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CP-496-IN

Awesome thanks. I could get the 3.5GHz and save £80 which will go towards the SSD.

Here's one of the cheaper mobos with Display Port:

YOUR BASKET
1 x Intel Core i7-4790 3.60GHz (Haswell) Socket LGA1150 Processor - Retail £229.99
1 x Crucial MX100 256GB SATA 2.5” 7mm SSD + 9.5mm Adapter (CT256MX100SSD1) £79.99
1 x MSI H97M-G43 Intel H97 (Socket 1150) Micro ATX Motherboard £64.99
1 x TeamGroup Elite Black 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C11 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (TPKD38G1600HC11DC01) £59.99
1 x Silverstone Strider SST-ST30SF SFX Series - 300 Watt Power Supply £41.99
Total : £486.55 (includes shipping : £8.00).

Going for the non-K chip also helps free up cash for the 250GB SSD you want. Still, the other is 4.4 Turbo not 4.0, so maybe it's worth it to spend extra for the K if any time saved is money in the long run.

Case (I just think these look very smart and sleek for offices):

YOUR BASKET
1 x Aerocool Qs-101 Micro-ATX Case - White £24.95
1 x Aerocool Qs-101 Micro-ATX Case - Red £23.99
1 x Aerocool Qs-102 Micro-ATX Case - Black £22.99
1 x Aerocool Qs-102 Micro-ATX Case - Red £22.99
1 x Aerocool Qs-102 Micro-ATX Case - White £22.99
1 x Aerocool Qs-101 Micro-ATX Case - Black £22.49

So about £510.
