I was deciding between a 65" C1 and a 75" X90J. I was coming from a 75" X900H which I returned due to software bugs.
This is the second time I have compared a Sony FALD TV Vs the C1. I compared the 75" X900H to the 65" C1 last year and after viewing them both I came to the conclusion that in a bright setting the X900H looked much better than the C1. I use the TV mostly in the early evening when there is still light outside or at the weekend during the day. The C1 was just so dim and the colours muted in the bright light of the showroom. The X900H was much brighter and the colours popped more even in the bright lights. The size difference was also a massive deal. The 75" is 33% bigger than 65". So I bought the X900H and was very pleased with it. It looked just as good in my home as it did in the showroom so I would imagine the C1 would have looked dim in my home. Then Sony ruined that TV with buggy firmware.
So after getting a refund for the X900H I had to choose another TV. The obvious choice was the 65" C1 for about £1450 as that is the TV that everyone raves about. So I once again went to John Lewis to look at it and again it looked dim and the colours kind of muted. The John Lewis I visited had two C1's on different floors with difference lighting conditions. Both left me unimpressed. Same as the last time.
John Lewis had a 75" X90J on display and it was obviously the more impressive display in the bright room. I ended up buying one from Richer Sounds for £1164, almost £300 cheaper than the 65" C1. It looks better than the X900H in my living room and it has no bugs. I have turned off automatic updates so Sony can't ruin this TV as well.
I really like this TV and can recommend it.
