Cheapest and Lowest Spec Ford Focus

Im in the same position as you, I'd really like a Focus as my first motor, mainly a 5dr because putting my baby in the back would be easier.

But im still inclined to buy some 500quid job an stick with that for a couple of months, I've seen too many friends wreck first cars. Lots to think about!

Just out of interest.

Whats the best way to buy a second hand Ford on finance? (say to the value of 3k) Do dealerships do finance for second hand cars? if so do they hike up prices of second hand cars?

If that's a no go whats the best way? bank loan? or one of these specific car finance companies i see advertised on Dave all night long?

 thats terrible! my first car rover 214 has nearly 100 *99/95 think* and that had a 1.4 and was 15 years old, are they really detuned or something?

Probably. These engines are probably built for reliability and economy, not power. My 1.6 only makes 98BHP. Even the 2.0 litre Focus only makes 128BHP (According to Parkers).

Basically the same car as mine but older and in a different colour. Seeing as I paid £2995 for mine from a dealer over a year ago (November 2006) I would say, assuming that's all genuine, that its a great deal (Based on my own ownership experience which has been great so far). Cambelt already done at 90K so wont need to worry about that.

However, Im obviously biased as I own one, so wait for other opinions from more experienced members.

Cool.

Will talk to the mother about some kind of credit arrangment prehaps. Bit of a way away just yet! Only been driving for 4hours so far! aha

Try getting 0% finance, anything else seems a waste of money to me.

You'd be better trying to avoid any kind of finanace package at all for a first car, in my experience anyway.

try the ford website?

Not hepful. Neither are 95% of your posts in Motors but oh well.

The 1.6 CL/LX is the lowest model but I don't think there is going to be a huge difference in price with insurance.

The 1.6 is a very cheap car to insure.

Consider if you can afford to write-off a car that is only insured TPFT.

How does the low (?!) insurance premium relate to the higher purchase price of a Focus against a Mondeo?

Try adding your parents to your policy as this may reduce your premium. Also, stack the voluntary excess right up, as you'd be mad to make a claim, even in the event of total loss.

Bit still, could you not to spend a little more, say £2500-£3,000 if it meant having it on 0% finance, but more importantly a better car over the coming years?

Who said anything about 0% finance! lol i wish!

I would happly spend 6k if i could afford it.

Bearing in mind insurance is 2k for the first year so thats a lot of budget just gone :(
