Ahoy,

I have a spare computer and the BFG 8800GTX in it has just blown (I think, anyway).

What is the cheapest card that would offer improved performance? :)

The gtx 460 would offer a good improvement over the 8800 gtx, not sure by how much but it's definitely a good bit faster.

The gtx 470 is faster than the 460 so will offer even more improvement over the 8800.

The gtx 480 isn't far off performance of the top end 580 and will give you massive gains over your 8800gtx.

All these cards, are refurbs but come with full 1 year warranty and currently offer the best value for money that I know of.

The nVidia refurbs are the best value in the UK right now, IMO. The 1GB 460 at £90 and the 480 at ~£160 are the sweet spot in terms of value.
