Cheapest broadband

Probably very little, but saying that, if she discovered iPlayer etc she may end up watching programs on that all night.

Well considering she can't get Cable the only other option is ADSL - in turn you are forced to take up a phone line (blame BT)..

Who is her Mobile phone with? O2 and Orange offer Broadband packages with good discounts for their own Mobile customers..

Well she is going to need a phone line since ADSL is the only available option. Probably something like ADSL24 or another Entanet reseller would do.

So £17.50 a month, plus probably an activation fee? Any Orange customers know if she can bundle it in with her mobile contract?

Edit. Just seen, £5 off a month if she has a contract. May be the best option, plus it's 'unlimited' so she can watch as much iPlayer as she wants.

£18.50 per month*

No idea on activation fees, there may not be one as a bunch of ISPs absorb the cost of new line setups these days.. It is the best ideal imo, unlimited usage, and as it is for your mum and she isn't going to be gaming, heavy downloading, etc it should be fine.

It looks like BT Unlimited with the basic call plan is the cheapest option, for unlimited anyway considering she'll more than likely watch a lot of iPlayer etc.

EDIT

Actually ignore this, I hadn't selected the unlimited option. Plusnet is more expensive than advertised as it's out of the Plusnet area.

Pretty hard considering she has no LLU services avaliable to her.

Also if it's too cheap it may not be with a reliable ISP (possible frequent disconnections and heavily throttled during peak times). How much is she willing to spend per month?

Not much at all, preferably less than £10. I don't mind paying the line rental up front for her though.

Line rental is a monthly payment, which adds on to the phone/broadband cost.

Well... There's Talktalk... but let's just say it's not exactly... reliable shall we say. The supplied router also has pretty poor wireless as well:

£12.75 for the first 6 months, then £16 a month after that, this is including line rental.

There's not many people on her exchange so hopefully it should be fine...

I don't think there'll be many issues with TalkTalk for her use. But, is it one of those where it's in a non TalkTalk area so it'll cost more? Same as Orange etc.

I believe Talktalk is also a BT reseller so they use the BT equipment, so it shouldn't cost more. Best to check with them though just in case.
