Cheapest car for a 17yr old to insure?

My son is 17 this year, so we're looking at getting him a little runaround.

Whilst I appreciate that insurance is different everywhere, has anyone got any pointers on what should be reasonable to insure?

If it's cheap to insure and also reliable, that would be a bonus too!

Thanks for all the replies, looks like we're sitting in front of a laptop for a few hours over the weekend getting insurance quotes...

A few cars that I'd thought of in the mix there, and a couple that I hadn't, thanks again.

It’s pretty quick once you have a profile on the comparison sites with the saved driver details etc too

Think I'll sit later on and make a list of registration plates (and the model they're off) from Autotrader, then I can just paste them in and compare prices.
