looking at getting car insurance soon for first car, very stressful stuff when the sites are rubbish and you have to fill out a million forms to find the site messed up and you have to restart or the price is way more then other places.

main places i have gone are moneysupermarket, gocompare, and confused, done others but those are the main

wondering if anyone knows of any other places that may give cheaper results and are easier to use? sometimes i want to find out the cost for 3/4 cars so have to fill out that many times gets so tedious.

thanks

ok will try them, blooming quick reply btw

just wondering all these fields like main occupation, second occupation, expected milage, do they make a difference to the final price or are they for advertisers that they'd sell the informatin to if you allow them or something?

Going to those compare websites are a waste of time. Getting quotes from the actual insurer would be better.

Also, insurance is different for everyone, so it's hard to say x is cheaper than z.

try auto trader insurance, they're kind of like a comparison site, though i found the same companys on there are cheapeer than elsewhere

I usually use a comparison site, take the best three of four quotes and then try them direct on there own site or by phone.

while i got this thread might as well as for advice for which car to go for

bascially looking for the smallest car i can find, with smallest engine so that insurance is as low as possible and petrol, that is auto, and comes with as many extras as possible whilst being cheap.

Any specific reason for auto, as that will massively limit you in that market.

Have a read of the moneysaving expert guide to cheap car insurance

http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/insurance/compare-cheap-car-insurance

IF you use moneysupermarket.com, confused.com, comparethemarket.com and tesco compare you'll have got quotes from 88 % of all UK insurers and brokers. Thats what i did, then went off and did quotes from people that had been recommended that werent on the list.

But between those 4, it included everybody i'd ever heard of.

have always hated manuals, may end up getting manual but for now i'd rather look into auto as they aren't that much more afaik but imo the benefits are loads more not having to change gear just letting the car deal with that.

i'm looking at nissan micra's in auto as they have tiny engine and very small cars but from what i am told come with pretty good stuff out of box like power steering, air bags, sun roof etc. they may be slightly girly car but not a problem for me atm.

admiral may be the cheapest, but so far is the hardest to get a quote from, 3rd time i have had a problem from them and having to restart

there website wont let me get a quote at all, just tells me to phone them

suspect they've taken it down because im 25 and and in a half decent postcode, so cant think why else it would just refuse to try to quote me only having given those bits of information.

I did the same. Goto moneysupermarket and enter all your details and look. What happened is that i didnt find any policy i liked, and just left it. Moneysupermarket then called me back out of the blue and said they found somebody cheaper than all the ones on the site and asked me if i wanted to speak to that company. I did, and took up the policy.

My first car was a micra auto. Love it to bits.... you can park in almost any space....

yeah looks aren't important for me when considering a car, it's the ebenfits it has, one is that it's small but still has 5 seats/5 doors etc.

thanks myLOL for that link, a site has £42 with kwikfit which could possibly bring insurance down to £1200, maybe less if i can talk ot someone on phone which imo is brill.

Its finding the car now i want getting it, then getting the insurance and away i go :)
