I need an upgrade, whats the cheapest anyone could price one up? Christmas woes :(

I need:

C2D E6300 Allendale / Mobo / 1Gb / (PCI-E Graphics max 100 pounds)

I'll use my hard drive, but I need to get rid of the AGP stuff.

Hopefully some of you who list rigs for fun could help me out.. and recommend something to replace my Ti 4800 SE lol

Thanks :)

Let me define, I mainly play CSS and other source engined games. I got flight sim X but it runs like a dog. Does that help any as to the graphics part of the question?

Two reasons, it is the 945 chipset so only supports up to PC5300(667mhz) and secondly it is mATX which is never a great form factor for overclocking with. It will allow some overclocking but how much I can't say for certain. :)

The DS3 as mentioned is a much better bet for overclocking as the 965 chipset allows very high FSB speeds(~500mhz), if you get the 7300gt with ddr3 Ram then it shouldn't be that much of a downgrade from a 7600gt.

What would you recommend ATX 965 in that case?

I take it the Abit AB9 would cover it? I do miss the Softmenu from other Abit mobo's I've had. My current Epox isn't as cut out for it.

Right I have decided I need to save space so need to go small..

Do you think the CS2204 Black Micro ATX would be confortable with Mobo?

I can't seem to find an OcUK friendly link for the case :o

I have limited space where the computer is just now, I need to get rid of this monstrous tower...

I don't know about the case but as long as it says that it supports mATX motherboards then it should fit fine, I would note however that if you are going for a mATX motherboard that the Abit one is rather expensive and doesn't appear to offer any real improvement over the ASRock that I recommended at first. :)

:)

Sorry at the time I dismissed that motherboard as I was looking to keep my case, now I am looking at m-ATX though. Was just using the above as an example. Just compairing prices at the mo :p

Getting half of the rig for a pressy now so case and board will be paid for which is a start

Would definately recommend e6300, artic cooling freezer 7, geil 6400 ultra low latency RAM, gigabyte DS3, overclocked straight to 3ghz without a hitch and running stable.

Ive never overclocked in my life before and all i used was the simple guide in DS3 owners thread, how much easier could it get?

Running CS:S at 1680*1050 all maxed, no problems whatsoever (only bought it yesterday- complete n00b at the game). Have to say though bf2142 looks soo much nicer even at 1280 *1024 (doesnt support widescreen resolutions).

DS3 is too big though for what I want now
