As title, looking to upgrade my 5870 mostly due to VRAM. The 1GB is limiting me in games, especially World of Warcraft. Would like a little performance boost also.

Any suggestions welcome.

I just bought a 7870 Tahiti for £165 to upgrade my 5870, although a 7850 2GB or 660 would both offer a bit of a boost for slightly less money.

Edit: I seriously doubt VRAM is limiting you in WOW unless you're running it at very high resolution.

I bought two cards from the MM last year. A 5870 for £80 and a 7850 (2GB) for £100.

The 7850 was therefore 25% more expensive, but looking at reviews about 25% faster too :p

Just a thought if you don't mind 2nd hand.

Thanks for the replies. My CPU is a original C0 stepping, won't clock higher. Will be replaced by Haswell soon.

I'm aware WoW is a cpu limited game but when checking my VRAM usage at 1920x1200, its using all of my 1GB of vram and Im noticing stutters as a result.

I have considered a 7950 but I don't want to spend £250 on a card right now. I'd prefer to wait until AMD's next gen cards are out, then spend £300-£350 on something with a huge performance gain.

7850 2gb version sounds interesting, though I'm unable to find many benchmarks comparing it to a 5870 :(
