i just found a competitor that must have read this thread ;) , they have beat this price by 41p for the same card (msi 5850) lol

.......... No free shipping there though. I nearly bought the 5870 version of this card, but the reviews are not too kind about temps & noise.

is the 5850 still worth buying ? anything faster out there for the same price ? ive been out of the graphics game for a few months (stupid xbox) but looking to upgrade my 4890 but need a card with a dedicated HDMi port,not an adaptor

Well, in the benchmarks I was browsing though, a standard ATI 5850 was under the ATI 6870 and GTX 470, but higher than the GTX 460 and 6850. Not sure how a standard one would compare with an overclocked GTX 460, or how an overclocked ATI 5850 would. The gap between all of them is pretty small in some games.
 
Ive read in quite a few places the 5850 has quite a bit of OC headroom, as its built back of a 5870 as opposed to the 6870 which is built at the top of the 'Barts' range!

I seriously hope for some miracle theres still stock next week, was going to go for a 6870 but the price reduction with this would bag it for me!
