I need to do 140miles per day (5 days a week).

I've currently got a Ford Focus 2.0l and it costs me over £20 per day inc the bridge toll.

How much cheaper would a cheap diesel or a 125cc motorbike be?

Cheers.

George.

I dare you to do 140 miles a day on a bike! :p

406 TD, yours for under a grand. Bonza.

Isn't the bridge free for motorcycles?

My lecturer commutes in from south wales to bristol on his bike...

Wouldn't mind doing 140 miles on a proper bike, a 125 aint gonna be hugely fun though, although good economy :p

where are you driving to? swindon / gloucester?

train tbh :p

if you have to drive, then get a season ticket with TAG, it doesnt save much, but it all helps :]

My 125 will do 140 miles on about £6-7 worth of fuel but you'd have to be a mighty brave man to do that distance on it every day :D

Think about the massively increased risk of death (lets not beat about the bush eh bikers :D), no radio and in that sort of distance if it's raining you will get wet through your gear.

I used to do 80 a day to Uni on my DNA 125. Plus other excursions on top of that too.

I think I did 15,000 miles that year or something and my garage couldn't beleive it. Must be the italian wiring job ;)

no way on earth i would consider ANY 125 for that journey. Doubt it'd be any better than a decent 600cc either fuel wise tbh - especially if we're talking motorway journey. get yourself a mile munching 600 - like a faird Suzuki Bandit - new for about £3.5k.

Best option would be a decent diesel - Seat/Skoda/VW or Toyotas D4D range - amazingly punchy engines - drove the 104BHP corolla the other day (courtesy car) and it felt quicker than a 150BHP Leon - no exaggeration. Would sit at high 40, low 50 mpg all the way.

tho if Trains an option i'd be tempted to consider it as when you're on the train you can relax.
