I just need a basic mobo + 16gb ram, no overclocking, I have a GPU and sound card.

1x ssd
2x normal sata hd
1x gpu
1x cdrom
1x sound card

I haven't built in years, too many mobo chipset types, so I'm confused.

Also, is the retail i5-3570 hsf/fan quiet? I need a quiet system.

Finally, what does the "K" mean on the cpu?

Thanks.

The K on the CPU name means the multiplier is unlocked, making over clocking very easy.

I think any ivy i5 should suffice. A H61/h67/b75/h77 motherboard will be perfect and can be as cheap as £35.

The stock fans can be quite loud under load but not too bad.

Get this board http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-391-GI

It is the cheapest fully featured board on OcUK and offers a far better feature set than the cheaper alternatives such as H77 or B75 boards. You will be wanting at least a B75, H77 or Z77 board so you can use PCI-E 3.0. Getting Ivy on an older board is pointless really because you wont be able to use any of the advantages of the chip over Sandybridge.
