Cheapest new build to runr MW2?

Basically I've been out of the hardware loop a while now but my dad wants to know how much he could buy a pc for that would run Modern Warfare 2 reasonably well.

He has my old agp system (which ran cod4 ok at low settings) but the AX800xt has given up the ghost and I think MW2 is pixel shader 3.0 which im sure this wasnt. Can you get agp pixel shader 3.0 cards? Id assume they cost moer than putting together a cheap new system...

All he would need is the pc itself - no monitor, keyboards, operating system etc..

Yep if ur just after MW2. PS3/Xbox is the best bet.

MW2 online on PC only sucks compared to PC online, its vertually the same as console online. No reasoning to buy console imo.

Will spec something up now.

My house mate is using a rig a little lower spec than this on MW2 with all graphics @ full 1680x1050 no problems.

my pc cost £450 and runs MW2 pretty well at 1680x1050. i got it 3 weeks ago and its nice

. i had the monitor already though

Thanks for the build BIGBC - might have to re-educate myself and see how low I can get a half decent pc for.. over £300 is too much. A meduim spec would be fine for his needs though I guess he could well get an xbox and MW2 for a fair bit cheaper.

well what type of machine you want? AMD/Intel - ATI/Nvidea ?

This is what I would go for. Will play MW2 at 1920x1200 silky smooth and play most other modern PC games with no troubles as well:

To cut costs further, you could drop the graphics down to this (seems to play MW2 rather well) and 2GB of RAM. But spending the bit extra on the spec above is worth it in the long term IMHO.

I would go for the pc above but take the DVD drive out and hdd because surely this can be used from old system? Use his old case also? Then with the saving from those things get a phenom 2 550 and 5770
