I'm wondering if it's worth picking up a very cheap NVidia card to test GSync-on-FreeSync monitor compatibility.
I used to have a 1070 Ti which worked fine on my FreeSync monitor but only in exclusive full screen mode. Borderless windowed games flickered like crazy and were essentially unplayable. Apparently this is atypical of my monitor with Nvidia cards and points to a transient software issue / an 'unlucky GPU'.
I've now tested my monitor on probably the cheapest AMD card that can support my monitor's resolution at 100 hz with FreeSync (a used £50 RX 550) and that works flawlessly on all screen modes.
So is there an RX 550 equivalent on NVidia's side suitable purely for testing FreeSync?
