Posted this thread elsewhere (sorry, total newbie). I really want to try out VR with the Quest 2, but only have a Macbook Pro (work computer). So I'd like a bargain-basement (say £500-700) VR PC that I can build that will allow me to try out Half Life Alyx and Medal of Honor (when it comes out). Total novice when it comes to PC (love my OSX walled garden), so slightly baffled by the sheer variety of components available.

Hmmm, looks like prices have shot up since I bought back in May, my cpu is £60 more expensive, and the 5700 line is EOL in preparation for the next gen AMD graphics cards.
The cheapest 5700XT is another £80 on top of what I paid for my 5700.
Now might be a really poor time to be buying on a budget as AMD/Intel/Nvidia are all releasing there next gen lines, and they start higher up the pecking order in terms of price and performance.

Wouldn't buy anything now. New CPUS and GPUS are coming out at the end of this month/start of next month which will push the prices of older ones down a bit. Also, Black Friday is coming up at the end of November, which means you might get a lot more bang for your buck.
I know it's tough to wait, but, I think it would be wise in this case.
However, If you really want to upgrade now, I guess we can give you some pointers.
