Cheapest pc for running dayZ?

The ram will default to the lower speed, you may get it to work at the higher rated speed by overclocking the system.

That board says it also only supports 1866Mhz RAM.

Yet I have had my Kingston RAM running at 2133 and 2400Mhz without issue, the speed and timings are selectable via XMP or manually.
 
Well i'm running hypex kingston 2400 but it's only 1T stable @2133 with my A10 5800K Gigabye F2A85XM-D3H set up, tbh wasn't expecting it to be as others have mentioned the CPU bu is spec @ 1866
Nevertheless the latest A85x chipsets seem to allow a better over-clock of the onboard gpu of 1066 to sync with 2133 memory speed giving a credible 3DMarko6 score of over 10,000! Not bad for apu chip that can be upgraded to hybid crossfire high performance later on by adding an amd $50 graphics card.
If the op is on a real tight budget he could save a bit by using an A8 5600k and still be good enough for a decent Dayz performance

The difference will be rather small i imagine

This is the best choice for the price jack frags did a video on this which is posted above, it played dayz on framerates that are around 30FPS.
 
There is no way that intel h61 build will come to £300. The Pro OS is over £100 and the gpu is around £100, never mind the other components...... it's simple maths.

Stulid kindly linked a video of the Trinity setup and it's basically identical to the spec I did. As you can see the IGP was more than capable. As I said he can add a dedicated GPU later for better gaming grunt.

The 7770 is very poor value which is why I suggested the 2nd hand GPUs to keep to a budget. Only GPU i really recommend buying new is the 2GB 7850, yes it's £50(ish) more than the 7770 but has double the performance and is bundled with games which helps justify paying the extra for the GPU

In the video i believe he said he already had a copy of Windows OS, i was merely posting the specs he had linked in his video. The components were purchased from a competitors which i cannot post here
 
wow the video link to build your own steam box was awesome,£300 and it will run games like that?
i thought newer games like dayz/bf3/cod would require a speedy quadcore,not a duel core clocked at 2.9ghz

after some reading games like dayz are cpu intensive,so would there be much difference in turning that duel core 2.9ghz into a quadcore (or tri-core as mentioned above) with a higher base clock speed?
 
If you could give us a budget that would really help fella. I realise you are probably just putting "feelers" out to see what is possible for what price but if we knew the MAX you were willing to pay for everything that would help us help you.

That "steam box" isn't as well spec'd as the Trinity setup some of us have spec'd you. The H61 mobo lacks sataIII support (this matters as you may well add a SSD later), it only has 2 DIMM slots for RAM, which they have filled with 4GB of slow RAM. Basically they have built the rig around the 7770 GPU which as I have already said is pretty poor value for the price tag, with cheap parts to get the job done.

Myself and the more experienced members on the forum will nudge you towards the FM2 socket if you want to keep the price low as you can leave out the GPU and add one later when you want more grunt. Stulids video link showed that the Trinity APU can play what you want with the Spec I gave you.

That video link for the "steam box" i've seen posted a number of times here and I think it's misleading in that the £300 doesn't cover the OS. It's an option but I wouldn't recommend it personally. I did point out you can use the windows 8 preview edition for free but at some point you will have to pay for the OS.

I look forward to seeing your budget and what we can swing for you :)
