Hi guys i dont know if i should put this in the PC games section or not so sorry if its in the wrong place.

My question is whats the cheapest pc you can make that would play wow?

I already have a case and some ddr2 ram and a monitor and all that. So i just need a Mobo/cpu/gfx and psu.

Thanks

Depends how well you want it to play. :)

My old Pentium 700 can play WoW. Just not very well. Screen size is also a factor when you're considering specs.

XFX ATI Radeon HD 4850 512MB GDDR3 Dual DVI (PCI-Express) £78.99
(£68.69)
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 7750+ Black Edition 2.70GHz (Socket AM2+) - Retail £49.99
(£43.47)
Foxconn M61PMV nForce 430 (Socket AM2/AM2+) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard £36.79
(£31.99)
Antec Basic 350W Power Supply £33.98
(£29.55)
Sub Total : £173.70

It's not the absolute cheapest, a 4670 or similar would do the job ok but I wouldn't want much less than that.

This set up would play it well

Thanks for the fast replies!

Im guessing i wont need anything special to lvl up with, But i will need something better for raiding and defenatly for raiding and wintergrasp.

For lvling to 80 i could get away with something basic i guess while i save and then buy the new parts when i get there?

So it looks like around the £200/250 mark.

Yep, both the above suggestions would see you happy and you would be getting a tidy little build for the price. (Qustion is now, will you choose the AMD or INTEL?)

With wow its more about server performance than your PC. Even with my spec Wintersgrasp is unplayable 99% of the time and Dalaran runs at about 15-30FPS.

Raids don't need massively powerful computers any more as the raid sizes are reduced from 40 to 10/25 which makes a big difference. You will be able to raid no problems with a 4850 and a core2duo system if you lower the settings a bit.

Thanks guys, So would the 4670 be ok then? i will be playing at 1024x768 aswell btw.

One more quick question, does wow rely more on the cpu or gfx card?

Relies slightly more on the CPU, however I popped a Sapphire 4870 1gb in there and got 60fps in a qiet area with all graphics to full at 1900x1080.

Having a beefy GFX card does help however :)
