We booked the Maldives through Kuoni. Not cheap, but the Maldives isn't meant to be a cheap holiday. Maybe consider somewhere else?

He doesn't want a cheap holiday, he wants a holiday at the cheapest price. Very different.

In much the same way as somebody might decide to buy a Rolex but wish to purchase it for the best price - they dont want a 'cheap watch'.

Paying over the odds for somewhere because 'its not meant to be cheap' is a waste of money whether you are holidaying in Butlins or the Seychelles, it never hurts to go for the most competitive deal - especially as all a travel agent is doing is booking things on your behalf. It's often possible (Though not always, I agree) to shop around and undercut them yourself.

Jesus Christ almighty, I read it wrong I'm so sorry.

Mauritius was amazing for us. We stayed in The One & Only back in 2003. You want some sort of financial protection first of all, then you want to know you're staying somewhere decent. You might not necessarily get either of these guarantees buying a 'cheap' holiday so be careful.

Thanks for the replies guys, I don't expect it to be "cheap", I just don't want to get their and find the person next to me got it £800 cheaper as the booked it through x/y/z so I thought I'd ask around for people experiences.

My father has got a villa in Portugal that we usually go to but to be honest we fancy a change.

Try one of the smaller agents, I can recommend seyexclusive who cover Mauritius. They were able to match the best deal I could find elsewhere and also got us a room upgrade.

I've used Kuoni for the Maldives, they were nowhere near as knowledgeable but were able to offer a good deal.
