I've got half the parts for my new i5 build, the rest should arrive tomorrow...

... apart from the graphics card. I'm holding out for the Gigabyte or MSI GTX 460 to be released.

My current PC uses an AGP Radeon 9800 Pro, my new mobo doesn't have any onboard graphcis, and I can't wait to get this thing going.

So what's the cheapest possible card? I will just sell it on or keep as a spare as soon as I can get my grubby mits on one of the new cards above.

Just find the cheapest pci-e card you can, there's plenty about. Something like this would do it, however I'm sure you could find cheaper if you hunt around.

id just pick up a cheap used card from a exchange shop that i cant mention the name of here, they trade in used games and computer components so maybe you know the place i mean?
they sell GeForce 5300 cards used for a fiver

edit: am i allowed to mention a place that only sells used components?

Even a second hand card would suffice, something like an 8800gt, they can be had pretty cheap. Ive used one in the past and still been able to use it for gaming at 1920x1200, just with a bit less eye candy.
