hey guys, I used to be a big PC gamer until about 2 years ago my PC got lost/stolen during me moving house, and because I also started a new job, I really just didnt and havent since had the time to warrant building a high end gaming rig, so instead I got myself a PS4 (yeah wtf right?).

a lot has changed with the technology in those 2 years I’m out of my depth so looking to get back into PC gaming gently with what time I have spare so seek all you overclockers gurus advice :)

I would like to build a PC capable of playing every title currently available with at least 30fps on min settings (or at least as low settings possible where the game is worth playing without looking like junk). Obviously I dont want to scrimp on the PSU, it has to be a good brand, and we can leave out the chassis, I’ll choose that myself. I’d prefer a quad core too.

Fire away guys

This is a bit of an awkward question. Mainly because there is a huge difference between the cheapest possible, and the cheapest that is actually worth buying for playing things at decent settings. The below would be my recommendation for something that could do you 60fps, 1080p, medium settings.

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £664.99
(includes shipping: £11.10)

If you wanted to go really cheap you could probably drop to this but you loose quite a lot of performance compared to the overall cost;

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £474.00
(includes shipping: £11.10)

If this is still too expensive you would probably be better off getting one of the PS4 Pro / Xbox One S deals to be honest.

Aiming for a pc that can run games at the minimum settings is not a good idea and will only leave you disappointed with the result even after spending what is a considerable sum of money. The majority of games just look terrible on minimum settings and gaming on a pc is all about being able to crank the settings up beyond what you would see on a console. If you don't want to spend or are not in a postion to spend the money required for a decent gaming pc then I would suggest you stick to consoles. Just my thoughts on the matter.

Very helpful, I’ll prob go for the higher end spec you posted, and if I can find some second hand parts maybe lower the cost a little.
