Cheapest Small Factor

I need to or should i say i want to build a small factor pc for my brother to put downstairs in the living room which he and the family can use. Nothing fancy, just something simple enough to play the odd game aswell as office applications, watching movies....using it as a general media station.

I also would like it to share my broadband connection from my pc (up in my bedroom) wirelessly.

At his moment in time im not bothered about the monitor (might just give him my 19" LG and get me self another), just the main rig.

Budget is around £350 - 400

i'm currently sortin my parents out a new comp for crimbo. my dads always wanted a shuttle since he saw mine.

gonna go for a shuttle SK21G, socket 754 Sempron 2800+, 512mb OCZ cheapo value stuff. total comes to £185 inc delivery (bargin!) :)

gonna re-use their hdd's as one of them is reasonably new and gonna use their old geforce 3 card in it too.

might give you an idea for your setup you wanna do? add a decent g-card so it can play games and maybe some more mem and it should be all gravy :)
 
I wouldn't think the VIA UniChrome on-board graphics would be any good for gaming, depending on what titles you have in mind. But you could get an AGP 7600G* card and still be well within budget.

Sure someone else can vouch for the 200W PSU being sufficient. Air Marshall is running a fair amount of kit off the 200W PSU in an SK22G2.

EDIT: Above link is using the 300W PSU instead of supplied 200W.

i can vouch for it too. ran my current rig on just a 200watt psu before

thank you. This does look good.

One thing that concerns me about these small factors is noise and heat.
with a 7600 and a hdd in there togther with the cpu and what have you, will this not get hot and as a result be noiser to cool the components...?
 
i have a pentium d overclocked a x1950xt 2x 500gb drives and various other devices in my shuttle and i carnt even hear a whisper from it

it doesnt get hot idles at about 40 degrees and maxes at about 55degrees when ive been playing a game for a couple hours
