I've been looking at classic impreza's, which in itself seems to be a total minefield for my budget (circa 3k). Anyway, I'm tied into a tesco policy at the moment, and to be fair they are offering very competitive quotes, but they insist on a tracker being fitted (even for none imports). Anyone have any experience in trackers? (costs specifically). I'm thinking it might work out cheaper to go with an insurer that doesn't require one to be fitted.

I believe that most Trackers are only about 200-300 quid including your first year's subscription (which usually runs to ¬180) - worth looking into on a comparitive basis. Not had personal experience with 'em though :)

Are they really easy to steal then? All these threads I see being posted around the internets are always "My mates Imprezza got nicked if you see it around the Birmingham area call 999"?

Tbh I've been a little apprehensive about keeping one on the drive. I live in a nice area, but on a main road so it makes no difference, lots of prying eyes etc. The reality is that if it did go missing I probably wouldn't want it back, so the tracker's counter productive for me lol. Either way, cheapest so far is a 'Trackstar +', £250 fitted locally with an additional subscription of £125pa. The up side I suppose is that it brings a quote of £620 a year fully comp, which oddly isn't much more than I'm paying for a 328i atm..
