I would like to have a really good PC, I currently have an asrock sata2 dual, A 146 opteron, 2gb Gskill RAM.

I would like to go to conroe, Possibly the quadro. But i'd like to do it smartly. I don't want to buy a mobo for £180 if it's not necassary. I'd rather spend around £80 on the board..But then again I don't want to buy a board like my current asrock. Which has it's problems. So i'd prefer to stay away from asrock to be honest, Yes i'd like to overclock the quadro. So i'd need some nice overclockable RAM, But I don't know if it's worth buying that expensive cellshock RAM.

The computer will be primarily a gaming machine. But I do use it for production and various other tasks, Cubase/Guitar Rig/PhotoshopCS2/DVDbackup and encoding.

So things i will need are.

I already have an Antec Sonata II Piano case(Black) but without the side vents.

But I will need, A Graphics card, Motherboard, The Quadro, a PSU, Durable but high class RAM(For overclocking) A new DVD Writer, Raptor Drive for OS, and Sata drives for storage(Keeping in mind DVDbackup and music production(WAVS), Possibly a seperate Sata controller card unless the onboard controller is a good one, I will probably also need cooling, Just AIR, as i'm afraid of water.

Graphics card wise, I'd happily go DX10, but i'm considering waiting for the next revision.

Thanks for any help.

Budget, Is something sensible. Keep in mind I want Quadro not duo. Thank You :)

*edit*

God knows why i've posted this in Graphics cards :D Could someone move this to general please :p

This would be better off in the general hardware. But there is only 1 quadro out atm so these are the components i can think of now:

- Intel Core 2 Quadro Extreme Edition QX6700 "LGA775 Kentsfield" 2.66GHz (1066FSB) - OEM
- BFG GeForce 8800 GTX 768MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail
- BFG nForce 680 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
- CellShock 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR2 PC2-8000C4 1000MHz Dual Channel Kit
- Seasonic M12 Modular 700W Silent ATX2.0 Power Supply
- Western Digital Raptor 150GB WD1500ADFD 10,000RPM SATA 16MB Cache - OEM
- Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 500GB ST3500630AS SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM

Gigabyte 965p S3 board (note not DS3 - S3 is cheaper)
E6300 OEM (Or quatro if you want but it isn't a budget/'sensible' chip)
8800gts (just one)
800MHz DDRII RAM (brand tbh matters not, just stay away from high density)
Hiper HPU-4M580 Type M 580W (like type R but cheaper)

Raptor is a waste of money imo. Disks are cheap, go set yourself up a raid 0 with two drives (if you don't need more than .5TB then the 250GB disks tend to be sweetest £/GB wise). Raid 0 will give you performance when moveing large files about. Seperate SATA controler sounds like another waste of money.

Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler (Socket 775) for CPU cooling (no need for arctic silver just use the paste that comes already applied on the cooler).

Can't be bothered to go see how much it is but this is a sensible option.

I would recommend the abit AB9 Pro as your motherboard, the Geil RAM in this week only and an E6300 as your processor. You can overclock the hell out of it before picking up one of the cheaper quad core CPU's in the middle of next year.

Stay clear of geil :( I had a borked pair sent to me and i belive im not the only one, but luckly OCuK RMA service isnt to shabby, sent it away on friday and had a new set on monday
