Hey GH,
Been a long time out of the Hardware section so I'm currently clueless but after some advice on how to upgrade my PC for the minimum amount.
It's started to go quite sluggish and I don't really want to spend a whole lot of money if I can help it.
I currently have,
Core 2 Duo e6420 @ 3.44GHz
2gb PC6400 DDR2
8800gt
corsair HX620w
160gb WD HDD
I want to be able to play Guild wars 2 and Battlefield 3 as well as some other games at a resolution of 1680x1050 so not quite full HD. I'm pretty sure my Graphics still has some punch and the processor is still good enough, but I'd rather not be the judge of that.
Would upgrading to 4gb DDR2 and a newer hard drive be more wise? or would upgrading to a new Ivybridge Processor, DDR3 and a new HDD be more wise? (I have watercooling also, but I can modify my D-Tek block with a new fitting for 1155 sockets so cooling isn't a problem)
Also, probably need Windows 7 as well considering I'm using XP SP3.
Thanks,
Sinny
- Oh and my Budget is around £300-350 if I need to go for the new parts, otherwise I'd rather keep it down until I'm in a more financially secure job. Cheers
