looking for a decent case to give me the basis of a new rig for my 7yr old

now most likely i'll also use it as a machine for hosting my downloading-torrents on when its not inuse so its going to be on 24/7

on my shortlist atm is an Antec 100 but its out of stock

requirements

able to take a full size atx mobo
enough room for a decent gpu
room for at least 3 hdd
decent airflow.(see above its going to be used for gaming and running 24/7

any alternatives to the 100, or should i wait on it coming back into stock?

The Merc is great. Also great (though it costs more money) is the BitFenix Shinobi, as is the Antec 300 (even though it's showing its' age somewhat these days).

Lots to choose from in the £40-60 bracket these days.

I would stay well clear of any case that has any holes in the top or the sides of it if it's primary use is for a child. Spilt drinks can = a real nightmare! And I guess its one less place to lose a pencil/crayon :P

So that rules out any bitfenix case IMHO.

Seen as it will be on all the time and I presume you wont be over clocking, nor keeping your hottest hardware in there, leaving it on all the time and needing a fair ammount of hard drive space I would reccomend the Cooler Master Sileo 500

Youtube review here

No holes so drink friendly, quiet enough to be left on all the time with no ear bother and tonnes of room for hosting data.
