I have a amd althon64 2800+ system. Currently it is running with a Geforce 4 ti4200 128mb graphics card. I am thinking of replacing it with another but not a very expensive one. I roughily want to spend £100. What do you guys recommend?
Thanks in advance guys :)

Leadtek GeForce 7600 GT 256MB GDDR3 HDTV/DVI (AGP) - Retail (GX-088-LT) for about £128

and

HIS ATI Radeon X1650 Pro ICEQ 512MB DDR2 TV-Out/DVI (AGP) - Retail (RX1650P-AGP512ICEQ) (GX-063-HT) for about £94

The GeForce is faster but also more expensive :)

I presume you are looking for an AGP card ?
Unfortunately you get less for your money nowadays with AGP.
A 7600GS would be a nice step up from your current card & you should be able to get a silent one.
The 7600GT is quite a bit better but I don't know if you will be able to find an AGP version as cheap as £100.
Not sure about the ATI cards in this price range.

Well, it sounds like you're in line for a 8800 GTX, very reasonable!

Sorry, Just Joking.

PCIE: 7600 GT - Easy one that. Very good card for the money

AGP: I'd get the AGP version of it, but it is quite out of your budget (£140). A second hand 6800 GT would be a good bet.

will i see much difference in graphics quality from upgrading? I tend to play mainly rts (age of empires) or space shooter games (like freelancer type).
Thanks guys :)

hunt around on the net for a 7600GST. its a 7800GS which is aptly named as it has the performance of a 7600GT for a lower price. cant remember too well but i think inno3d make them. look about
