I'm trying to build a HTPC for my mothers birthday, as I have a suspicion it would be really useful to them lately, but I'm trying to keep the costs "reasonable" and already have a couple of bits that could potentially be used, or not! My problem is I am really unsure which route to go down with this!
I already have a various components which could be theoretically used to be honest, which include:
Gigabyte h55n-usb3 motherboard.
i5 530 cpu
8gb's of generic-ish low profile ram
Akasa Low Profile Intel AK-CC9101BP01 CPU Cooler (already changed the 80mm to try to quieten it down further, and even ordered a fanmate 2 to push that even more, as teh temps seem quite ok.
I don't actually have to use any of the above if there is a better route, such as a NUC, but I'm slightly doubting my ability to build one of these, so I'm leaning more towards a itx/htpc sized case with an sfx power supply.
What this pc will need to be above all else is:
a) Very quiet with absolutely no fans that could be considered loud at all
b) Smooth during 1080p video playback
My best plan up until now was to buy one of these:

Put the parts I mentioned above inside it (pressuming it even fits?)
Then use this this power supply below, which is hopefully a quiet one!

My initial concern with even this plan is that in the review of the case, the guy said:
"The PSU I bought was in the wrong orientation for the power cable that is built in to the case but wasn't a real problem as I DIY'd it. PSU's in this size have 3 screws and can only be installed one way and the cable in the case doesn't reach to the other position."
How would you even know if its compatible before buying?!
So yes, as you can tell by all the doubts and questions..I'm struggling here!
Any help is very appreciated if none of these parts are any good then the budget is about £200 max. I'm open to ITX or micro-ATX but suspect NUC would be difficult for me to make, especially when time is against me a little bit!
Please give me some ideas or thoughts !
