Evening all,

My brother has finally decided his PC (10 years old) is due an upgrade as it can't watch 4k files or even handle his Firefox use any more (he opens a million tabs for some reason). He has asked about a cheapish upgrade and isn't really interested in gaming any more. I noticed the 7600x now comes with an integrated GPU, so have gone with an AMD build, as you seem to get more bang for you buck. He already has an old case he is happy to re-use and last year replaced the PSU with a 750/850w, can't quite remember the exact model. Is the 7600x ok for watching videos and general browsing on the IGU? Lastly, anyone recommend a decent graphics card for £200/£300 should he wish to get one with the below build?

Any thoughts on the below parts?

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £483.94 (includes delivery: £0.00)

Thanks :)

Hi.

The onboard graphics is for basic stuff built yesterday you can watch videos, etc there are others CPUs with better onboard such as the 8600g .

As for adding a graphics card for games £180 the Rx 6600 is good for 1080p and at £300 the 6750xt should be considered and can play at 1440p.

Save yourself £10

Could also go for the ryzen 7600 (non-X), which will perform pretty similarly (slightly lower performance but for these purposes probably not noticeable) but comes with a basic cooler in the box. Also not available from ocuk, but available elsewhere for similar money to the 7600x.

If you do go for a 7600x then pretty much any AM5 compatible 120mm tower cooler should do a good job. One of the Thermalright assassin 120mm single tower coolers might be a good option too, eg https://www.overclockers.co.uk/thermalright-assassin-spirit-120-v2-cpu-air-cooler-coo-tlr-03263.html

The other parts look fine to me.
