Right, it's time to sort out my systems' weakest link - the processor.
I've struggled by with my A64 3700, which I can't seem to overclock successfully, so it's time to throw a bit of money at it... £150 is my budget.
I'm thinking:
E2180 C2D
Geil 2GB DDR2-800
And I was looking for the Gigabyte 965 DSR3, but it's out of stock
So, could someone recommend me the next best budget motherboard to overclock the E2180 on? And can you confirm that Ram is ok? All the buyer reviews are very positive, but I remember hearing some problem that Geil ram had?
I'll be using my existing Zalman 9500 cooler + Zalman AK450 paste. Psu is a Hiper-R 550W, graphics is an X1950Pro. OS is Win XP Home SP2. I have a Seagate 160gb SATA2 hard drive and a Western Digital 120gb ATA drive.
I'm geeky, but haven't had much experience / luck with overclocking, so a noob-friendly mobo / bios would go down well
cheers!
