In my own little world
Hi

Want to rebuild PC main components, going from AMD to Intel and long time out of touch.

I have other bits as described in signature already, just wish to replace main elements and re-use rest. My only question mark is the PSU, my enermax 480w has served me well, even with new 8800GTS, will it still be upto it?

I think I will stick with XP, I think I am right in saying I cannot make use of 4GB memory on that though hence the 2G purchase?

Will items work together well?
Is Asus good choice (it is on this weeks offers)?

Thanks

What cooler would you go for?
Not initially interesting in OC, unless COD4 needs it !
My only concern, noticed on another bundle offer, is that some HSF's don't fit well in the CoolerMaster Wave case, which I have.

Link HDD?

Looks good to me.

if you are sticking with XP32bit then you wont use more than 2gb of ram, but XP64bit you could use more.

In my opinion if your not overclocking then the stock cooler is more than adequate

I selected the HDD as I saw the 32mb cacheand thought for the little extra it would be worth it. This drive will host the new system, probably partition a C: for system files and a D: for data.

I will probably start with Retail HSF, can always get another if feel the urge to OC :)

Anyone on the PSU I have being okay?
Any other comments, would like to get order placed :)

/edit
XP64 bit, I suppose I could install, I would imagine driver support is pretty much okay nowadays, avoided 64bit OS when I last rebuilt 4 years ago.

May go 64 then and up to 4gb memory, some on this weeks specials as well.

As long as Visual studios supports happily and WOW/COD4 will be happy.
