Check DS3 setup...

Built a 6300 system around a DS3 and 2GB Geil 6400 ULL for Christmas for my son.

All is working fine but the build was literally not much more than BIOS defaults.

I'ver read that the Geil may default to 5300 speeds at default settings. What do I need to check and make sure to get the BIOS to optimum before any over clocking (only using the stock Intel cooler though).

Any suggestions and guidance welcomed...

Try running CPU-Z and looking at the memory tab to see the current memory timings.

Then adjust in the bios if needed.
