Hi Guys,

Could you have a look over my spec please?
From reading how well the Intel 805's are overclocking I was thinking of getting the following setup.
What do you reckon?

I'm trying to keep the price as low as possible. I won't skimp on decent equipment but, I don't see the point in buying something thats top of the range when something reasonable will do.

CPU
Intel Pentium 4 805 Dual Core "LGA775 Smithfield" 2.6GHz (533FSB) - Retail (CP-116-IN) £89.95

CPU Cooler
Zalman CNPS7700-CU Ultra-Quiet CPU Cooler - Retail (HS-010-ZA) £19.95

Motherboard
Asus P5ND2 SLi nForce4 SLi (LGA775) PCI-Express Motherboard (MB-116-AS) £64.95

Memory
2GB?? - What Do you recommend. I prefer the Corsair, Crucial and OCZ brands??

Hard Drive
Samsung SpinPoint P SP2504C 250GB SATA-II 8MB Cache - OEM (HD-018-SA) £53.95

Graphics
I have a XFX 7800 GT - Which sounds like a hoover! I was going to get the following to keep it quiet:

Graphics Cooler
Zalman VF900-CU Quiet Copper VGA Cooler (SY-008-ZA) £21.95

DVD
Samsung SH-S162A 16x16 DVD±RW Dual Layer ReWriter (Black) - OEM (CD-074-SA) £24.95

Case
Lian Li PC-V600

PSU
Tagan TG430-U15 430W ATX2.01 Easycon SLi Compliant Modular Silent PSU (CA-007-TG) £46.95

Total - £322.65 (without the case, memory and delivery)
Total with VAT - £379.11 (without the case, memory and delivery)

Is there anything you think I should change or missed?

I also have some questions:

1. Quietness
Do you think this would be a quiet setup?
Anything I can add/take-away to make it quieter?
Are the Zalmans good? Should I get something else?
What about the Samsung Drives, i wanted something quiet and heard they were pretty good or are all DVD Drives about the same and should just get a Pioneer?

2. Memory
Memory, what would be good?
I don't need a high spec model do I becuase of the CPU?

3. Motherboard
I like the ASUS MB's, this should do the job shouldn't it?
I can overclock the 805 with this?

4. Graphics Cooler
Is this the best 7800 GT Cooler?
Will it be quiet?

5. Case
Any ideas when this is coming out?
Any ideas on pricing?
Will I have a problem with the Zalman cooler not fitting as the CPU and PSU are in the same location in the Lian Li PC-V600?

6. PSU
430W should be enough, shouldn't it?

Sorry for so many questions. I'd appreciate any help I can get.
Many Thanks.

The motherboard is Nforce 4, which seems to ahve problems with the 820 and lower so I don't know if the 805 will work. I would say go for the Abit LG-81 instead.

Memory, get the corsair value select PC5300 2x1gb

Case - out soon (maybe 2-3 weeks although nobody is 100% certain) and will be around the £100 mark. You could have the PC-007 if thats too expensive and swap the heatsink for the arctic freezer 7 pro. (Wont fit in the V600)

Graphics cooler is fine.

PSU should be fine for that spec.

Thanks for you helps guys.

I checked the Asus website and the 805 is listed as being compatible with the motherboard with the latest bios version. I'd really like to get this board. Does anyone have experience with this?

Thanks for the memory advice. Anyone else think they're a good choice?

The case is nice! it's the one thing i'm really not going to skimp on as i'll have to look at it everyday :) Hopefully it'll be out sooner rather than later.

Thanks for confirming the cooler and PSU for me.

Anyone else have some suggestions about the rest of the setup?
Cheers, RC

The only problem is actually being able to flash the motherboard upto the latest BIOS in order to use the 805, I still say the LG-81 is better as it has out of the box support and intel chipsets seem to be more stable than 3rd party ones in general.
